The Federal Election has been a great opportunity to push vote-hungry parties and candidates to listen-up or face the electorate. Ontario is not getting a fair deal federally. We need to make transfer payments, we all understand the needs of the Nation. Today, we (Ontarians) are the need. Our economy is changing from a manufacturing and resource base to a service base. Many of us will need to be trained in different sectors to benefit from this shift. We can rise to the new standard, but we now need to benefit from the funds and resources we have so willingly transfered away in the past.

The one person I so happily criticize for failing the province has, in my opinion, put on the a bold new face to sway the 107 Federal seat seekers. “Ontarians believe in the principle of fairness – it defines who we are and how we live – but we also believe that fairness is a two-way street. We have been fair with our fellow Canadians for 50 years. Today, we are looking for the same treatment from our federal government,” said Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.

I was moved to write the Premier:

Premier McGuinty,
I have been quick in the past to react to decisions you have made, or positions you have held that seemed out of line with my own beliefs. Since the Federal Election was called a few weeks ago I noticed a different Premier, one that is standing up for Ontario. Mr. Premier, I am impressed.

An advanced position for Ontario during this Federal Election must become key to any government elect. Keep pushing each party leader, keep pushing for Ontario. I appreciate your effort.
